Fert egg out* body: The ovary is stimulated with medicine similar to that produced by the female master gland. Eggs are harvested under ultrasound guidance. Mature eggs are fertilized in the lab. Embryos are cultured for few days. One or more embryos are transferred into the uterus.

Good Question!!!: Ivf stands for in vitro fertilization. Normally fertilization takes place in the female body after intercourse, specifically in the fallopian tube, which picks up the egg from the ovary. So conception in the body is "in vivo" fertilization. In vitro fertilization just means fertilization takes place outside of the body-in a test tube or petri dish. So ivf babies are also known as test tube babies.

Ivf: In vitro fertilization. Treatment where eggs can be extracted from ovaries and mixed with sperm to create embryos. The embryo can then be placed in the uterus, and extra embryos frozen.
