Probably: If you have a hernia that is enlarging or causing sone pressure or discomfort symptons, then yes have hernia surgery. Risks depend on your overall health ; surgical risks. A hernia will not resolve without surgery ; you can watch a small hernia if your doctor says it is alright to observe it.

Depends: If you have pain or a non-reducible bulge than yes. If it does not bother you than know. Best thing is to see a surgeon and you can decide together.

In general,: there aren't any dietary restrictions after inguinal hernia surgery, at least once you have had your first post-operative bowel movement. Hope this helps!

Post-op pain common: Talk to your surgeon! tell him/her what's going on. You're the best judge of how much pain you can tolerate but let your surgeon know. S/he should have warned you about post-op pain as well as potential complications. Check back in w/your surgeon to be sure your pain isn't due to bleeding, infection or repair gone bad.

Surgery: Inguinal or groin hernias are very common. They can be repaired with an incision over the groin, or with laparoscopic syrgery. The surgery is performed with some form of anesthesia. Mesh is a soft woven material often used in hernia surgery to help prevent the hernia from returning in the future. Usually it is an outpatient procedure with a 4-6 recovery before doing heavy work or exercises.
