Can you be conscious during a grand mal seizure?

Not likely: Grand mal or generalized tonic clonic seizures are episodes when folks "lose consciousness" followed by generalized body stiffening (tonic phase).

By definition, no:: If there is no loss of consciousness, it is called a partial seizure rather than a "generalized tonic-clonic" - or grand mal.
