A member asked:

What does it mean when a person has a grand mal seizure, or a series of them?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Brain pathology: A seizure is triggered by abnormal brain chemical and electrical activity, and is due to areas of abnormal function. The grand mal may be secondary to an area of focal dysfnctn, but could be triggered by lack of medication, infection, lack of sleep, chemical imbalances, medication reactions, recreational drugs, etc. These situations require immediate attention.
