Food/indigestion: Unlikely. Normally, food should be broken down to small particles through mastication and digestive enzymes. Food and gastric contents should be moved out of your gastric cavity (stomach) within 4 hours. Some patients could have longer than that, such as in the case of patients with gastroparesis. Digestive system has many enzymes and microbiota (intestinal flora/bacteria) to digest foods.
