Possibly: There are cases in which a person may readily recognize the symptoms of stroke such as sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or slurred speech. But the symptoms are not always specific or could be due to a transient ischemic attack rather then a stroke. The important thing is to be educated. Stroke TIA: Initial symptoms for both are same. Only with time and neuro imaging we know if it was stroke or tia. All symptoms of possible stroke or TIA should lead to a call to 911 for emergency evaluation.
