Are gifted kids oftentimes misdiagnosed with adhd? do they show symptoms/characteristics similar to kids with adhd?

Yes: Both can be present, gifted kids can have adhd. But also, out of boredom, some kids become distracted, disruptive, show little interest often (suppose they know all the answers, and the lesson is too slow or basic for them). Hiperactivity however is not as common in gifted kids. The best way to discern it is to have kids tested by a mh professional. Best wishes.

Yes: It happens from time to time. If a 'gifted' child becomes bored or understimulated, they can become active and even over active to get the necessary level of stimulation. This is usually not the case however.

Yes : It is possible to overdiagnose adhd in gifted children but those children can also have adhd. Management of gifted children with adhd does not always follow the same path
