Is temporalis muscle wasting after craniotomy due to disruption of blood flow (retraction), or to damage to the motor branch of the trigeminal nerve?

Likely not nerve: Temporalis wasting is probably from transection and reattachment of the muscle, retraction, as well undermining and devascularing it, often with the use of cautery.
