Contact: Many itchy skin problem are caused by a contact allergy to agent but then there are many other causes which cannot be distinguished from a contact allergy which is usually detected by doing a patch test read at 48-72 hrs after the application. Atopic dermatitis is a totally different condition with an impaired skin barrier being the primary defect.
