Could be: Lymph nodes act as a trap for the "bugs" that cause infections. Ask your dentist to check your oral cavity and your physician to check your throat.

Lymph nodes: Lymph nodes act as a filtering system for your body. While viral and bacterial infections are the two most common causes of swollen and tender lymph nodes in your neck, there are many other causes as well. It always best to have these checked out by your physician and dentist.
