A member asked:

I have now completed my pt and have full mobility in my knee with the repaired acl but at times when i walk i hear cracking is this normal?

Very normal: Likely residual scar tissue deep in the knee and around the knee cap from the surgery and injury. Cracking and popping we do not worry too much about unless it is associated with pain and swelling. Keep rehab going, and some of this will resolve.

Nomal: Cracks and pops are normal for knees, as bands of tissue pass over your joint surfaces when they are under normal tension. If these become more significant, or painful, they could signify an arthritic process. Always ask your surgeon about things like this.
