Yes: Seizures can be caused by brain injury, but they can also cause new injury. Lack of oxygen (anoxia) can cause brain damage. This can be from inability to breath. Also, pressure within the skull can spike during a seizure, and with prolonged elevation, this could theoretically reduce blood flow. Direct trauma from convulsions or falls, too, can sometimes be seen.
