Not to be ingested: External use means outside to body and not to be ingested.Read the directions by the pharmacist it will say to be used in the eyes.

Topically: This ophthalmic ointment is applied to the eyeball surface to treat bacterial infections (external). There is also an intravenous preparation of this drug which is administered internally.
