Yes: They are safe if used for the right indication. The alternative is to stop your thyroid medication for 4-6 weeks which is much worst, in my opinion.

Safe: Thyrogen is safe. It is recombinant human TSH which you body already has coming from the anterior pituitary. The only risk, which is very low, would be an allergy to some non-TSH component of the injection. Anyone would have that same risk when getting it the first time. Good luck.
