Yes and No: Smart lipo is a type of liposuction using laser energy near the undersurface of the skin to assist with skin retraction post lipo. In my practice, I have had good results in the neck, lower face and upper extremities using laser lipo. Laser liposuction like tumescent liposuction is completed through small 2-4mm openings. Numbness, skin irregularities, scars and asymmetries can be permanent.

Laser Lipo Works: Laser liposuction is a pre-treatment during lipousuction, but the "melted" fat still needs to be sucked out with a cannula to have a good result. Some doctors only do the laser treated and do not suck the fat out. In my opinion, this is a substandard treatment. Additionally, laser lipo is not for everyone. If you need large volume liposuction, then you are well served with power-assisted lipo.

No: Lipo-laser is a non-invasive laser procedure aimed at reducing localized fat deposits. Not to be confused with smart lipo or laser liposuction. In my opinion it does not work very well and results are minimal to none.
