A member asked:

If i ate a type of fish known to be higher in mercury, how long do i have to wait before giving breast milk to baby?

Hard to say: There is little data available upon which to answer your question.Populations known to be contaminated by mercury from frequent exposure are encouraged not to breast feed. It takes about 2 months for a mercury level to drop by half in humans. One time exposure to a specific fish is unlikely to elevate your level. No short delay or pump/dump is likely to make any difference.
