Trauma, arthritis: Either inflammatory or infectious, recent or prior injury, cartilage or ligament injury, bone conditions, new or old fracture, synovitis is a nonspecific term for inflammation of the tissue that line the wrist, the synovium. Thus there are many many causes. History, exam, xrays, and at times more advanced imaging and lab tests are all relevant in making a diagnosis.
