Can i substitute alprazolam for lorazepam?

Ask your doctor: While these are similar medicines, they are not the same thing. Alprazolam works a little faster, stops working sooner, and can be somewhat more addictive (although both carry this risk). The bottom line is that you shouldn't substitute any prescription med for another without consulting with the doctor(s) who prescribed them.
