Ask your own dentist: Without knowing more about the specific circumstances and seeing you personally, it's difficult to answer that question. Were pins used? Deep caries? Your pain threshold? Is bite off? I suggest you pose that question to the dentist who treated you. Having said that, some mild to moderate temporary discomfort is not unusual.
