Unpredictable: Kidney cancers can be unpredictable in their growth and spread. In studies where tumors have been monitored and not removed, the overall size on x-rays appears to increase relatively slowly since many cells have to grow before resulting in a measured difference in the diameter of the tumor. However, it would be unusual to monitor a known grade 3 tumor without removing it.
