remove the food : Almost all children seem to gravitate toward carbohydrates and the best way to deal with this for any child is to not keep the foods in the house. If access is limited at home for everyone and only appropriate food choices are available the cravings will eventually disappear and the diet for everyone in the house will be healthier. Any other way of dealing with this is an exercise in futility.
