Possibly: Dr. Gordon is correct. Remember, antibiotics will help to decrease th acute phase of the infection however establishing drainage and removing the cause of the abscess is most important to prevent spread.

BEWARE: Yes, an abscess (infection) can spread if not dealt with, into the blood stream, tissues, muscles and eventually anywhere where the blood flows- heart, brain, etc. Don't wait to have it treated!
