Odd?: Now does not take that long to wean from antidepressants. I would recommend you see the prescribing doctor for further evaluation. Your symptoms may not be from the Zoloft wean but another issue. Get checked

Side effect: Some common side effects of sertraline include somnolence, dizziness, sleep problems, anxiety, irritability all of which could contribute to brain fog. If this issues persist please see your doctor for re-evaluation/ adjustment or change of therapy. Amitriptyline is a big cause of brain fog. Talk with your doctor about your concerns. Take care.

Efalex: Another otc product designed to relieve your wallet of excessive thickness without necessarily having proven value.  Belief in benefits is often beneficial in and by itself.  Would discuss this with your psychiatrist or clinical psychologist and go from there.  Good luck.

are ssris bad for the brain and the body when used in long term ? i'm on zoloft (sertraline) for anxiety but i'm very nervous that it might damage or change me when used for a few years or longer ?!

Consult your doctor!: The symptoms described are not typical for sertraline (zoloft). When any new medication is first taken and almost immediately some type of unusual feeling or symptom occurs, the odds are the recently ingested medication is the likely cause. In the situation described that seems to be the case and it must be followed up especially neurologic symptoms, with a call right away to the prescribing dr.

See below: If you are taking zoloft, (sertraline) you should probably not stop and should ask your family doctor if they can prescribe it. If you have to stop, and getting brain zaps, i would advise to take 3/4 of the tablet for 1 week, then 1/2 tablet for 1 week, then 1/4 of tablet for 1 week, then stop. Just to let you know, the "zaps" are uncomfortable, but won't hurt you.
