Zoloft (sertraline): Not an uncommon effect on high dose Zoloft (sertraline). Talk with your Doctor about possibly dividing the dose to twice daily.

my husband has a 102.8 fever and other symptoms of the flu. hes currently taking zoloft. what over the counter medication can he take?

Acetaminophen: He may take acetaminophen to reduce the fever, should drink plenty of water,and fruit juice to stay hydrated. If the fever does not abate in a day or so, or if he develops breathing problems, or has changes in mental alertness, it would be prudent to see a doctor.

Serotonin: May be serotonin syndrome.  I suspect that you are taking 100 mg.  Best to back off and discuss with your prescribing doc asap. And tell doc of all your symptoms

hey my wife is 19 and she has covid-19 with a fever thats been going on for 3 days. she also has a sore throat, runny nose, bad cough, and chills. she takes zoloft for her anxiety and she needs to know if she can take cold and flu otc medicine. ty?

: Treat symptoms, nasal saline may be helpful in relieving nasal congestion. Treat fever with Tylenol and monitor breathing. If there are signs of distress, please seek medical attention. The cough may linger, and if present at three weeks, discuss a ches image and evaluation with your physician. The OTC cough medications have potential side effects but may be used judiciously.

Watch for a week: If you feel bad enough to want more help - call your md. If you can tolerate it, keep good notes on how you feel a few times a day for a week and watch for changes. It should be cleared out of you by then. Be careful w/ these medications. Ask questions and have an exit plan if side effects are bad. Don't do it w/out advice and usually cold turkey is not the best way. Hope it goes ok for you!

no: I don't know if you mean once, by mistake, or regularly.  If you doubled your dose by mistake once, it's unlikely to be harmful, although you might suffer serotonin side-effects (stomach upset, jitteriness, restlessness).  Taking 300 on a regular basis usually does more harm than good.  It's not okay if your doctor didn't prescribe it that way.

Difficult.: Patients are usually on these medications for anxiety/ depression symptoms.  It does alter the brain chemistry, so to allow the body to slowly adapt to not having it is tricky and can take months to years.  You could feel a rebound of the original symptoms and/or other effects if you stop too quick.
