No prophylaxis: Is needed for exposure to pneumococcal meningitis. It is Meningococcal that prophylaxis is used.

Thanks for asking!: The simple answer is that it depends on many factors, and what we would call the art of medicine.  You see, there are many factors in considering which medication to treat your uti-if you are pregnant we would not want to give you cipro, (ciprofloxacin) and could chose Azithromycin or amoxicillin. Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is a good choice for non-pregnant females who are not allergic to it because it tends to have less resistance.

i woke up with a uti and in a panic took one pill from my husbands z pack.  now if i need cipro (ciprofloxacin) can i not take it today?  i'm on vacation in mexico

No, it: won't affect the efficacy of another antibiotic.  You can take additional antibiotics if indicated. But please don't rely on self diagnosis and self medication.  If you can get to a health care provider, get evaluated and receive proper treatment.

Probably : Discuss with your doctor, usually it isn&#x27;t the first choice, there are other alternatives, and better be guided by antibiotics sensitivity of urine culture, rather than emperic treatment, your doctor would explain, good luck

my doctor gave me macrobid for my uti. i got my culture back there was ecoli. the pain in my urethra never went away. i am now being told that that will not heal the ecoli in my urethra /urethritis i should take cipro or z pak. why no help both?

: What you were told is not true. Check for the drugs the E.coli was sensitive to and you should be /have been on one of  that. Drink plenty of fluids specially. water. Take OTC Azo for 3-4 days(it will turn urine orange) and you should be OK

Doubt prostatitis: No STD or any infection that might cause prostatitis is possible from such contact. I'm guessing your symptoms are some combination of urinary urgency, bladder discomfort, and/or testicular or low abdominal pain. Most men with such symptoms have genitally focused anxiety--pain from pevlic muscle tension not prostate. That all the antibiotics didn't help is very strong evidence against infection.

i'm traveling in thailand and have had diarrhea for a few days (no other symptoms). diphen/atropine not working. should i take cipro (ciprofloxacin) or zithromax?

Cipro (ciprofloxacin): Traveler's diarrhea is very common in the first few days of travel to a new location. Taking Cipro (ciprofloxacin) at the first sign of diarrheal symptoms is an easy way to stave off a prolonged course of diarrhea. Zithromax will not do you much good in this case.

i did the treatment for gonorrhea and chlamydia on monday (z)  and wednesday (c). i believe i have had it months now. my question is how long does it take to clear everything up after taking the single dosages? 4-500mg zithromax and 1- 500mg cipro

STD DAYS TILL BETTER: This depends on where you live and the antibiotics used.  Some parts of world are developing drug resistant strains. Discuss with team.
