my 11 months old baby has yellow mucus in and around his eye lid and inside of his eye is abit red. what can it be ? infection? how can i treat it?

Conjunctivitis: Your description sounds like conjunctivitis which can be bacterial, viral, or other etiology.  Go see an eye doctor.

our son is 4 weeks old. in his one eye allot of yellow colored mucus is forming 
its like tear drops but yellow in color

we are cleaning it every feed. eye are not red. but the mucus the same

Common: The tear drainage in humans is through a channel beneath the inner corner of the eye. In many infants these may plug up with debris &amp; lead to such crusting.Gently rolling your finger tip from the inner corner down can sometimes flush this debris &amp; open the channel over time. As long as the eyelid does not become inflamed you can just wipe this away as it occurs.

If his immunizations: are up-to-date, you don't have to worry about whooping cough. Viral upper respiratory illnesses cause runny nose, cough &amp; conjunctivitis. If he has coughing fits, trouble drinking clear liquids, fever or listlessness, he needs to see a doctor to determine if he has a secondary bacterial infection or if he's wheezing. Call his pediatrician for instructions on after-hours care. Yes, have him seen. .

Some basics: This can be pinkeye triggered by virus/bacteria or an allergy. You  can tease away the mucus with a wet Q-tip/earbud or moist cloth. You may want to just call the doc's office to see if they want you to come in or just send our drops.

Gallbladder or liver: You are describing jaundice.  Jaundice is often associated with gallstones or other causes of blockage of bile from the gall bladder.  Liver or pancreas disease can also cause similar signs and symptoms.  However, given the location of your pain and the fact that this happens intermittently, it likely represents gall bladder disease.  I would recommend an ultrasound.

Not enough detail: The duct that is responsible for draining your tears from your eyes is located on the inner part of your upper and lower eyelids. It ends in your nasal passage. When you have significant congestion or blockage of your nose, liquid can back up and come out out your tear duct. Not necessarily more serious, but means you are very congested.
