i have a rash on the corona of my penis and the head. i've been treating as a yeast infection i was just wondering what arevthe signs of the treatment working?

Rash goes away.: If the medicine works, the rash will go away, usually within 10 days.  If you have not seen any improvement  after three to five days, get seen by a doctor to be sure you do have a fungal infection.  There are other causes of rashes besides yeast. If you have had unprotected sex, get checked for std's.  Also, avoid scented products and harsh soaps/detergents/fabric softeners. Don't over-scrub.

See a doctor: Genital skin problems are quite common and there are too many possibilities to make even an educated guess. No STD is a likely cause of such a rash, but that's about all that can be said. See a doctor -- and avoid any self treatment before you are seen, which could make diagnosis more difficult.

would adding a couple of drops of vinegar to ketoconazole cream be helpful in treatment of yeast infection on penis?  is vinegar harmful to skin

Not helpful: The Ketoconazole Cream should be effective without vinegar. Acetic acid solutions can be used to unmask hpv induced skin changes prior to treatment, but should not be considered a skin treatment per se.

See your doctor: Men are less likely to get yeast infection but they can.There is itching , dryness and head of penis skin may be cracked, sometime it can also cause blisters, these can break open.
Use over the counter antifungal cream like Monistat twice daily, avoid having sex with your partner and have her treated
retract your foreskin if it is present and clean thoroghly/keep dry
prescription rx like Diflucan (fluconazole) tabl.

If you are suffering from a sexually transmitted infection, then it will be crucial to diagnose appropriately. If diagnosed, your provider will most likely put you on an antibiotic regimen, and can provide a prescription for a topical ointment that can help soothe the skin. Do this right away because an untreated STI can cause terrible effects on the reproductive organs.

Very diff tx: Skin: otc Clotrimazole (lotrimin)
scalp: it requires oral medication prescription based (griseofulvin or fluconazole)
prostate: never heard of prostate yeast infection.

Some ideas: You can kill all the yeast involved &amp; still require time before normal coloration returns. If the skis surface is smooth in those areas it may just take a while to appear normal. If the area feels rough the skin can be either still injured on the surface or still have yeast. It will not hurt to give it more time, which can be weeks before the area looks natural.
