Overuse Syndrome: If this is an acute problem then the treatment is complete rest of the muscles that are not working well. If this is a chronic problem then getting to a hand specialist is the next step.

Examine you: Dystonia is a class of movement disorders characterized by involuntary movements, tremors, or spasms. The causes of these disorders include medications, genetics, or degenerative or traumatic brain injuries. The most important test that your neurologist will do is a careful physical exam. Tests in addition to this should be considered only they improve your treatment in some way.

? psychogenic ?: Torsion dystonia is a muscle disorder that can occur from many different causes.  It can occur in degenerative disorders such as parkinsonism, huntington disease, wilsons, etc.  It can occur due to medication effects especially major tranquilizers.  It can be just a episodic event in some your people without definable cause.  It can be either the cause for or the result of emotional stress.

Sorry, but...: Vegetative-vascular dystonia is not recognized as a disease or syndrome in the West. It simply doesn&#x27;t exist here as a concept. Most doctors over here have never heard of it, and to those few who have, it&#x27;s one of those odd things the Russians have thought up that no one else takes seriously. my neurologist took a look at my mri scan of my brain and told me there were no signs of dystonia but what could be causing all the muscle spasms? is it pseudo and if so what is the best method of treatment?

: Normal MRIs do not exclude all causes of dystonia, and often other testing needs to be done to uncover causation.  It is not feasible to be more precise in absence of many additional data points. Hello. : Hello.  Dystonia is a movement disorder which  can cause painful involuntary  muscle contractions involving one or more muscles.  There can be a genetic predisposition for  dystonia or it can be due to disease. There are many medications which can can cause dystonia - lithium is one of them. Please talk with your doctor about stopping lithium and your side effects.

Multiple: Medications: trihexyphenidyl, benztropine. If early onset- levodopa/carbidopa; tetrabenazpine.
Botox treatments.
Surgery: deep brain stimulation, lesion surgery.

Certainly: But it really depends on how longstanding the dystonia has been present and the amount of fibrosis that will determine the extent if relief achieved with Botox and pt.

can cupping therapy help with cervical dystonia  ?

Can't hurt to try.: Cupping is a  long used  treatment.  Although it has theoretical benefits for pain it has  not been studied for dystonia .  It won't hurt  to try.

A trained neuromuscular therapist in  conjunction with botulism injections are more traditional and proven treatments.

Neuropathy/neuralgia: Your fiancé has suffered a serious neurological condition. Clearly at nine months she is still working through significant neurologic deficits –hemiparesis, spasm and pain. Baclofen and tizanidine are primarily for spasms. Additional pain related medications include Neurontin or lyrica (pregabalin). She should be under neurologic care and treatment – hopefully already is. Avoid narcotics as possible.
