See your doctor: Your vomiting could be due to medication side effects but if you are also having chills it could mean that you may be having pyelonephritis which means the infection has ascended up in the urinary tract into the lower part of the kidneys (especially if you also have fever and flank pain plus your high wbc) ). You need to see your doctor to be rechecked and for a possible change in antibiotics.

See below: That level of WBC does not indicate by itself a severe infection.  This is just abopve normal.

i have ra and am taking biologic medications. my most recent blood test showed wbc count of 4.9 cell/mm3.  is this dangerously low?

No: This is on the low side of normal.  But what is more important is the breakdown of different white blood cells like neutrophils versus lymphocytes.  Overall, it's probably of limited concern and will likely be fine to be just monitored in the future.  If you have significant concerns I would consider reviewing this with your mother's primary care physician or rheumatologist.  Best of luck.

I'm worried: Neutrophils below 1000 worries and me and you're not far from the count of 500 that very much worries me. Get with a hematologist. If you're taking any meds you don't truly need, consider stopping them. Lupus can do this, but you'd probably have other warnings of this. Get checked again soon -- there are "cyclic" entities in which they drop for just a few days. Best wishes.

: Several things can cause: a change like that over 2 weeks could still be a laboratory variation &amp; just needs to be checked again in 1-2 weeks if you feel fine, but can be due to a viral infection, medication effect, or exposure to a toxin that affects your bone marrow’s ability to make the cells. 6 months ago i had blood work done that showed my monocyte count was 1,000 cells/ul (high for me) this past month another test showed my monocytes are still high at 1,044 cells/ul. my wbc count was in the 9000s both times. should i be worried?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your cell count is not a cause for concern.    Wish you good health!
