: You are only 18, and I'll bet you dont have cancer, however, worrying about it is not helping you and I strongly suggest that you go and see your doctor and ask him what's going on. You will feel so much better.

Q: i can feel my lymph nodes in my groin area. it really worries me even though my gyno did an ultrasound a couple months ago and said it looked normal. right side is a lot bigger and feels about 1.5cm. i keep touching it and worried its getting bigger?

Sounds normal: Lumps in the groin can be felt in most healthy persons. Usually they are lymph nodes that remain slightly swollen after a past infection. What you describe sounds normal, and with normal ultrasound as well, you really needne't worry. It's probably getting larger because you're further inflaming it by repeated touching and rubbing. Hands off!

It depends: Swollen lymph nodes occur commonly due to infections. If this is the reason they will not grow anymore after infection has resolved. So you do not need to worry about them as long as the node size is not increasing. If they show further enlargement and get 
to &gt; 1-1.5cm in size then you need a physician to check them out, just to be sure they are not due to cancer. Caner related nodes will grow in.

should i be worried about this or no borderline prominent lymph nodes in the right neck with transverse measurements of 1.2 cm at level ib and 1.1 cm at level iia?

: Lymph nodes at those sites are usually bigger than other sites of the body except the lymph nodes at the groins. Your nodes can be observed at this time. Ultrasound should be done if their sizes increase in the next 3-6 months. Take care.

i have multiple palpable lymph nodes on the right side of my neck since a year. all are 0.5 cm in diameter or less. the biggest one is 0.4 cm in diameter and 1.1 cm in length. oval shaped. not too soft, but not hard. moveable. should i be worried?

No. But see a doctor: If you are otherwise in good health these nodes may have been there longer than you think and may well represent old healed infection. It is impossible to know this for sure and the best way to deflect worry is to see a doctor who may be able to reassure you on the spot or may require further testing up to and including biopsy to give you the ultimate peace of mind, a diagnosis.

I won't worry.: Lymph nodes get enlarged and inflamed (and not damaged) by filtering surrounding infection. Take care!
