What'sTheDifference?: I don't understand the question. If you were trained to take blood pressure readings, you know that the diastolic pressure is the first reading [number] after the systolic pressure when the last heart sound disappears. Not uncommon: Very high pitched, like dog-whistle? Not uncommonly reported in persons w/very high bp--which is the issue (the noise is just annoying). Check and document your BP & time of day taken, take list to your dr and get on or get meds adjusted to control your BP before have brain/heart/kidney/eye problem from the hypertension!

i get light headed when i stand up sometimes. a few times my vision dimmed and i heard a buzzing sound. is this low blood pressure?

Low BP: Is simply determined by taking the bp. The problem could be orthostatic problem from poor hydration or even autonomic dysfunction. Your symptoms do indeed correlate with a drop in BP as many of our patients have done so and it correlates. But the real diagnosis has to be searched. Go to your doctor and be examined well. Only then can you be treated well also. Good luck.

See Dr: Might be blood pressure related, or due to a vascular anomaly, or fatigue or hydration status, or some combination of all--some of which could be very bad for your health. See your dr for evaluation.

Not necessarily: The rhythmic thumbing sound one hears in their ear, if it corresponds with the heart rate, is the ear drum hearing the heart beat from the tympanic artery.  This does not necessarily indicate high blood pressure and should not be used as a measure of blood pressure.  Better is a blood pressure cuff device, especially if done by your doctor's office.

i have this "swish" heartbeat sound in my right ear my blood pressure is normal i'm 33wks preg ob says she doesn't do checkups like that what is this?

Ear: Good question. Sometimes you are hearing your pulse in your ear with the hormone changes in pregnancy, may be your eustachian tube as well. Suggest you see an ENT for a complete exam including a hearing test to look at the eustachian tube

what causes buzzing/drilling like sound off and on in ear? normal blood pressure, no pain, take a daily baby aspirin. could it be an early cold sign?

Tinnitus: This could be due to wax in the ear canal or early inflammation of the ear drum. However it could be onset of permanent tinnitus which emanates from the inner ear. If symptoms persist get examined by your physician or an Otolaryngologist.

24 hour: Ambulatory BP monitor would give clearer picture.

Normal: You have to determine if the cuff you are using is accurate. You will rarely get the same BP readings with an automated cuff.

how serious is a blood pressure reading of 82/56?

Accepted Answer

Variable: One never treats a number per se; but rather symptoms if any.  A BP of 82/56 is certainly on the low side especially for a 44 year old male.  However if you are of slight build that may be normal for you. If you are not lightheaded and well hydrated, basically asymptomatic with that number, no need to worry.  If you are light headed, then you ought to seek medical attention.
