i am a 40 year old female had my upper left wisdom tooth removed 4 weeks ago and a few days ago i started feeling pain in that area after inspecting i saw another full molar growing at that spot its half way cut through the gums is this normal.

Wisdom Tooth: I suggest you see the surgeon who extracted the tooth. They have radiographs of the area and know exactly which teeth are present and which teeth are missing. You may be mistaken about which tooth was extracted.

Excess tissue: It may be excess tissue(scar tissue) that formed when the area healed. Rinse with salt water to see if it will diminish. If not, it can be removed with a laser or other means.

Post Op Ext Symptoms: Good afternoon;
Extraction may have required removal of bone and gingival tissue directly around extraction site which would cause the area to be quite tender for a prolonged period of time. Monitor the degree of tenderness on daily basis; would expect diminished soreness in subsequent days. Temporarily, a benzocaine gel like Zilactin-B may help. If not consult with DDS.

Surgeons call: Some bleeding is of course normal. This is why you need to ask your surgeon what you should expect. Direct pressure is always the best way to stop bleeding, use some gauze to bite gently and put direct pressure on the area. A moist tea bag held on the area can sometimes enhance the effect.

Maybe only local: Sedation is usually an option, not a requirement for the procedure. After discussion with your dentist you may decide that local anesthetic is enough. Also, not all dentists are prepared to sedate patients in the office, so you may not have that option. As with all medical and dental procedures, make you sure you discuss the plan and options with your doc - preferably during a prior visit.

Hole will close: What you are describing sounds like an expected healing: first, there will be blood-filled hole, then gums start growing over the hole. Underneath the growing healing gums, the 'socket' --a hole in bone left after the tooth is gone--starts healing. The hole in the bone will be gradually filled with new bone cells. Isn't the body amazing? After extraction, it is a good idea to have a post-op check.

ive had my wisdom tooth removed. one of the stitches came loose before being dissolved. there is a hole at the back of my gums. its not causing unbearable pain but food gets stuck in there. should i be worried?

Wisdom tooth removal: If it is not bleeding and there is no pain, start rinsing with warm salt water one day after the extraction every time you eat to keep the area clean. It will take about 4 to 6 weeks for the area to heal and the hole filled. Stay on a soft diet. Brush/floss your teeth to prevent plaque/tartar build up. Don’t smoke. If there is pain, call your dentist to make sure the area is not getting infected.
