Not gaining weight: Pediasure is better for a 2 years old as it is a meal in itself as it contains the right balance of carbs, proteins and fats for a growing child.  If he is a picky eater the try to give him a glass of Pediasure with meals 3 times a day.  If his eating is not a problem then his doctor will do more of a work up if he continues not to gain weight.  I hope this helps.

Be aware: Pediasure is best reserved for children who are unable to gain weight for medical reasons. Giving her pediasure will impact her appetite so it will be a viscious circle. If she has a big appetite but cannot gain weight then you need her examined to look for other causes including thyroid, intestinal malabsorption, and eating disorder. Please seek pediatric review with her doctor.

Once his stooling goes back to normal, you could start things up again slowly. You need to talk to your pediatrician about the best &amp; proper way to feed  your baby to have normal weight for his height &amp; age. Good luck

Needs other sources: Pediasure only contains a small amount or iron. The child must need iron from other sources in the diet. Pediasure only contains 15% of the days requirement for iron. Iron suppements can be used or foods containing more iron should be introduced in to the diet. Meats, fish and green leafy vegetables are good sources of iron.

Other supplement : At your age if you want to use a supplement I'd choose one for adults such as Ensure or Boost. Of course, there is also just the old upping your caloric intake every day by 20%. Also, has doctor checked things like your thyroid function to make sure that's not your problem?  Sounds like time to discuss concern with doctor and a good dietician!
