Two ingredients: The medication you described contains 2 different ingredients.One ingredient is sold as Ponstel (mefenamic acid) which is available in the us by prescription only. The other ingredient would not be appropriate to use for menstrual cramps.

Diagnosis needed: The cause of your persistent and apparently severe abdominal pain needs to be determined. There is not enough description of your symptoms in order for us to make a differential diagnosis and advise you. I recommend going back to the hospital emergency room now for more examination and testing.

hi dr. i have got my painful periods always to settle i take meftal spas. however, this time even with painkillers my pain is not reducing. i have regular periods and a 28 day cycle. my hemoglobin is over 12 too. what can be the reason of my cramps?

: Severe menstrual cramping with menstruation may be caused by endometriosis, which are caused by endometrial cells in the abdominal cavity, which bleed with menstruation, causing pain.  Consult your GYN physician about endometriosis, and ask about low dose oral contraceptives, which will reduce the cramping and protect fertility.

Not likely: A D&amp;C shouldn't affect your ability to conceive.  Since the procedure was done in February your body has had plenty of time to heal and recover.  Best wishes!

Not the best idea: This drug is also known as Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim). I would wait to try to conceive until after you are done with this antibiotic. Please talk to your doctor about all your medications before you try to get pregnant, including over the counter and herbal medications.

i am 38 years old with a amh of .81.  no problem conceiving 1st child at 34 and 2nd at 36.  miscarriage at 35 & 37.  likelihood of natural conception?

Hard to say: The amh level is a good predictor of how you will respond to fertility drugs and perhaps your chances of getting pregnant with treatment as well. It is not very good at predicting spontaneous pregnancy. A low level suggests waiting is not a good idea though.

Not related: Folic acid is helpful in preventing spinal cord or neural tube abnormalities in the baby. It is possibly related to prevention of cleft palate formation also. It is unrelated to multiple pregnancies.

my due date is nov 23 and conceiving date is march 2nd. what would have been the sexual intercourse window that would have led to my conception date ? and how long does conception take ? is it 2-3 days after intercourse?

: An egg is fertilized within a day or so of a fruitful intercourse. It takes about 10 days for the embryo to plan itself. It takes about three weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG for a positive pregnancy test. It depend on what your view of conception is.
