my drug screen results were negative, why? i take percocet and ativan (lorazepam) on a daily basis, my screen results did not find them in my system. knowing that i take my meds daily, i cannot understand why they did not show.

In : In short a few explanations; #1 your test gave a false negative result (possible but not very common) #2. The urine or blood was not yours (lab error, paperwork error, in short human error). #3 Percocet and Ativan (lorazepam) were not specifically screened for in the particular drug testing that was done (meaning although drugs in their class may cause a positive result, the biochemical make-up of Percocet and Ativan (lorazepam) may have not caused a positive reaction).

Drug screen.: Depending on the assay used, both oxycodone and tramadol may show in the urine drug screen for three days or so. That being said, for the record, if you have prescriptions for these medications then your best bet may be full disclosure.

why didn't my medicine "percocet" or "ativan" show up in my drug screen? i have a herniated disc in my lower back and panic attacks, i take my medicine daily, just as prescribed, but neither showed up in my drug test... can you help me?

Percocet : Percocet is a narcotic (opiate class) pain medication made up of a combination of oxycodone and Acetaminophen (tylenol).  It would show up in a drug test as oxycodone or as an opiate depending on the test.  Ativan (lorazepam) is a benzodiazepine called Lorazepam used for anxiety and a few other problems.  Since Ativan (lorazepam) is the brand name, it usually show up in drug tests under it's generic name Lorazepam or as a benzodiazpine which is it's class of medication.

If nothing showed up in your urine drug test and you are taking these medications daily as prescribed, you may want to call your doctor and have it repeated.

I don't know when: The actual blood test was. It is usually not detectable within 24 hours. If it is legally prescribed for you, why would you be concerned?

Percocet half-life: Plasma half life is 3-5 h (half that of morphine). It takes approximately 6 half lives for a drug to be eliminated from your system. 5*6/24= 1.25 days. The oxycodone will stay in your system for about 1.25 days. Due to its short half-life, Percocet doesn’t stay in the urine long. 
 You will pass the test, but  Percocet is very addictive drug. You should talk to your PCP for more information.

Lortab elimination?: Lortab (hydrocodone and acetamenophen) is a pain med. The hydrocodone component has a 1/2 life of 8hrs. That means every 8 hrs, 1/2 of the drug should be eliminated in ur urine. If u have a problem with opiate pain medication, it's best to be honest with your doc &amp; get the help u need. Be careful, as Lortab also contains tylenol, (acetaminophen) an overdose of which can cause liver failure and death. talk 2 ur MD

Yes: If the test screens for opioids.

will toradol and oxycontin show up the same on a drug screen?

Accepted Answer

No: Toradol is not an opioid and I'm not aware of any evidence for false positives with it when screening for oxycodone and opioids in general.   If there ever is any doubt the physician can order a confirmation and that would clear up any confusion.
