Possible!: Grave's is an autoimmune disease when thyroid antibodies bind to thyroid stimulating receptors. Overporduction of thyroid, which also increase your metabolic rate, burning more calories than normal. If your thyroid levesl are now kept normal, you may probably gain weight if your appetite is the same as when you had untreated grave's disease.

Weight Gain: Certainly Thyroid may be causing some of your issues too.  Safely, exercise and dieting with decreased carbs and fats will make you lose, if you burn more calories than you take in, you will lose weight. If you are unable to lose, discuss with your Dr. as approved weight loss meds ar available, but they need to monitored regularly by the Dr., and used with an exercise program and diet as well.

hi my tsh 3rd generation result is 100. i have always been overweight and have recently gained a little bit of weight. have irregular periods and recently there has been issue of constipation.

I'm not sure what: ..units are being used to measure your TSH level, but 100???  In the USA, the standard value that labs use to measure TSH is microunits/ml and normal values range from 0.4 to 4.0 microunits/ml.  If you're TSH is 100 mcu/ml, then definitely something's wrong with your thyroid or the hormones regulating it. This test result requires follow up and either clarification or treatment.

Yes, but slowly: First you'll get tired, constipated, dry skin, loss of hair; gradually retain fluid/ increase weight; and live like that chronically for awhile until a. Acutely ill will cause 'myxedema coma' and death, or chronically/slowly get to same point.

Probably not.: I131 used for ablation of the thyroid gland has half life of 8 days.It is usually recomended that treated patients stay away from growing children for 7-8 days.. The iodine that is in other tissues of the body has been flushed out by kidneys, salivation and sweating.Remaining radiactivity is in the thyroid gland. Distance and time are important. The less time &  moe than 4ft away reduce exposure

See below: I assume by rai you mean radioactive iodine. When this radiophrmaceutical is used, it completely destroys thyroid tissue, thus ending hyperthyroidism. The pt then becomes hypothyroid & must take thyroid supplements for life.

Possibly: If your thyroid is completely inactive, then you do not make any thyroid hormone which is necessary for life.  It would take a long time, and the changes would be quite slow (fatigue, wt gain, hair loss, decreased body temp, etc.), but eventually, you could experience myxedema coma which is life threatening.

Blood chemistry: Have your doctor check your calcium , magniesium and zinc, meanwhile start taking mag. Oxide over the counter 500 mgm/day, it will not cause you any harm.

i had radio iodine ablation in 2008 for hyperthyroidism. should i still be able to easily palate my thyroid? isn't it dead and atrophied?

It's not "dead": There is still thyroid tissue present, and it may or may not be able to be palpated. The thyroid doesn't just vanish because of radioiodine.
