Advance diet: You may have a sore throat for a few days due to intubation (a tube was in your throat during surgery). Your sore throat will resolve in a few days. Advance from a soft diet.

Avoid foods?: 52F form US has have thyroidectomy and HRT dosage decreased recently. Tests show all is well.  if you feel well then I would avoid all supplements as they are almost always a waste of money and can be dangerous. Not certain if HRT refers to Thyroid replacement rx which you will need for life of female hormone replacement which you probably do not need.

Foods/supplements: Count calories. Aim for 1200 calories a day minimum. Do not starve yourself. Eat fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, tobacco. Drink 80 oz of water daily. Take a multivitamin and extra vitamin C and fish oil daily. Avoid fast food and processed foods.

i had a complete thyroidectomy  two months ago. what is the mean starting dose for thyroid supplements?  i  have problems with low body temperature.

Depends on health: Healthy individuals are frequently started at 100 mcg of levothyroxine.  Don't use armour thyroid.  Less healthy individuals might be started at 50 mcg .  The level is then checked every 6 to 8 weeks, as it takes quite a while to make a change, and stabilize. The medication is increased by 50 to 100 mcg at a time . Levothyroxine should be taken on an empty stomach, 1 hour before or 2 after a meal.

i had a thyroidectomy 6 years ago and have taken the same 137 mg since then. but this last blood test showed that im quite hypo even though i havent missed any meds and im not taking any vitamins or eating with my synthroid. why would this happen?

: After "6 years" of taking a supplemental source of thyroid hormone, depending on metabolic needs changing, a higher dose of thyroid may be required to maintain a normal thyroid profile.  Consult your endocrinologist who prescribed the maintenance dose of thyroid hormone for guidance.

i had a total thyroidectomy last week. before that i have really never burped in my life and ever since i started eating after the surgery i burp  after everyting i eat. should i be worried? it's getting really annoying?

: Thyroid surgery is tricky as lots of nerves and blood vessels are in the area of the thyroid.  Only your surgeon knows where he or she was and did.  Discuss with them.

2 weeks ago i had a partial thyroidectomy  they said it was cancerous but won't be making any decision of what to do til 14th jan is that normal?

Often yes: Most types of thyroid cancer grow slowly over decades, so these are typically not emergencies.  Additionally, your cancer team is probably waiting for the pathologist to make a detailed report of the specimen to determine what kind of additional therapy you do or do not need.

Need Blood Test/ultr: You need a ultrasound and tsh, freet4, T3 (liothyronine) levels and you may or may not need a boipsy of the left lobe of thyroid to find the proper treatment
consult your endocrinologist if you have not done so.
