It doesn't matter what made the cut if the exposure comes after the skin is open. The rusty nail is the classic source because it is on the ground to begin with when people step on it.If you've had a booster within 10 yrs you don't need one.

Ya feel lucky? Do Ya: Well, if your cut is not bleeding much and is not very deep, then you are probably not seeing fat. This could be the best thing going for you. Clean it well with soap and water, apply a topical antibiotic and cover it with an appropriate bandage. Keep an eye on it for the next couple of days. If you see signs of redness with pain, you need to have it treated by a doctor.

How deep?: Any cut that is deep should be examined by a physician. If you are unable to get into one then clean the cut with soap and water. Dry it off and apply an antibiotic ointment and cover it with a band-aid.  If the cut develops a smell or looks angry and red then you should have a doctor look at it asap. If the cut is too deep sometimes stitches are required to allow proper healing.

Tetanus: In america you would have gotten your last tetanus shot when you turned 15. These shots last for ten years and you would not be due again until age 25.
