Yes: This is critical. Even one blast cell on peripheral smear is extremely serious. Some automated cell-counters using image analysis may mistake them for normal lymphocytes or monocytes. There's still no artificial-intelligence substitute for the human eye. If a hematologist suspects myelodysplastic syndrome, leukemia or some other myeloproliferative disease, they will look at the smear themselves.

No: The CBC only shows the total number of white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets.  In order to diagnose leukemia, one must look under the microscope at many characteristics of the blood cells.  Usually this requires a test called a bone marrow biopsy.

A CBC may: Give answers about red cells (size, volume HGB concentration) that no one wants to know, but the total hemoglobin and % (hematocrit), whilte cell count and platelet count could all be normal, or all be low with lmphoma affecting marrow.  Blood tests help only a little, and more to point to effects of treatment than diagnosis of lymphoma  as a condition.

No: Most mild, minor infections do not change a person's white blood cell counts enough to put the CBC results outside the normal range.  Thus, doctor's generally diagnose mild, minor infections without needing a CBC (complete blood count) test.

No: Defining all the components of the blood system circulating in the host is incapable of defining malignant disease other than for the tumors of the WBC system.  The solid tumor malignancies do shed markers into the serum but are not part of the CBC and at present are inaccurate.

No: A normal CBC and ESR do not tell you that you don't have cancer. Cancer can present in many ways. The blood tests that you mention are, in themselves, not reliable screening tests for cancer.
