Growth: Infant's are born with airways that function as needed unless problems arise. They are somewhat rubbery & with rapid air movement will suck in on themselves, like sucking to hard on a straw.With age they get bigger & stiffer & eventually act more like a pipe.Babies can be born with weak supportive structure or narrower airways.If too bad, a bypass tracheostomy can be used untill growth solves  pbm.

Good guess: I agree with you. You should quit smoking NOW otherwise improving your sinusitis will be VERY DIFFICULT. You should be under the care of your primary care and/or ENT physician. If you continue to smoke you are letting your self in for a very uncomfortable future with worse headaches and running into possible ear nose &amp; throat cancer.

Yes: Although asthma often involves narrowing of the bronchial tree caused by smooth muscle constriction, increased mucus in the airway and inflammation of the airway, the sensation of tightness of the upper airway can also be felt.  An allergic reaction can actually cause both throat swelling and thus narrowing as well as swelling of the lower airway.
