Work on....: Really stretching out your achilles tendons!  if you don't know how to do this already, visit youtube and do a search for these types of exercises.  Type in "achilles tendon stretches" and a bunch of videos will turn up to help you. Do it with your kneed straight and with the knees bent.  The achilles tendon is made up of two muscles and you need to work on both.

Yes: Stop. Follow up with a foot/ankle doc. See what the problem is before possibly making a condition worse.

I'll try: Can muscle, nerve and tendon be slowly stretched to a longer length without breaking, and still work and move normally? I think the answer is "No." If it were "Yes", we could make people taller using medieval torture devices and they'd come out of it fine. There are a few pop claims about stretching devices to make adults taller, but I'll believe them when I see published data.

Depends: The question is a bit too ' general' to give a specific answer.Some ligaments that" stretch" beyond their capability will not return to their normal size and this can result in laxity. Some tendons that stretch for a short period of time will return to their prior state.Some tendons that are contracted secondary to the aging process or disease need stretching ! hope that helps...

Stretched tendons: If by stretched tendons, you mean ligament laxity.This is commonly seen as a result of an ankle sprain.
The normal treatment regimen for an ankle sprain, without ligament tear is three weeks of immobilization.

i've been rock climbing for about 5 months. would my tendons stretch and make my fingers longer? i don't think my pinkies are shrinking.

Remember: that there are bones at the core of the digits. Don't anticipate that you will obtain any increase in digit length but would anticipate that they will become stronger. Take care.

Sometimes: There are some tendons that do not add anything to function and 1 that many people do not even have, so it is not important to repair them and create a prolonged recovery.  Also, for a slight nick a repair is often not needed.  It might be a good idea to find out for sure from the er records and review the findings with your family doctor, who could refer you to a specialist if necessary.

Where in leg?: Sounds like you strained a tendon as u have noted and it has not yet healed.Not sure where in the 'leg' you are describing. "leg" in ortho terms means below your knee... Not the thigh.Be more specific in your location of your pain and i'll venture a guess... Sounds like around your knee and thus could be a knee ligament... Or ankle?
