Yes: Yes, ultrasound is safer than x-rays. The energy source for ultrasound is sound waves which has been established as safe in limited procedure times during pregnancy. X-ray energy source is radiation which has been established to be detrimental in higher doses to developing in utero babies.

: Ultrasound studies do not expose you to any radiation. Chest radiographs are perfectly safe and allow your physician to diagnose a multitude of issues. Side effects, complications = zero.

dr ordered a ct scan with contrast to check on my fatty liver, despite i already had 2 ct scans 8 months ago without injection and 2 x-rays for multiple conditions this year, he said an ultrasound wouldn't be accurate for obese people. is it safe?

Flying safe: If all those tests were negative then you are not at risk for DVT with flying. Try taking some calcium, magnesium and tonic water. That may help with the calf pain. Daily stretching and Pilates or yoga as well.

Ultrasonographers (ultrasound tech) takes ultrasounds

Radiologists (physician) primarily read these imaging studies although cardiologists and other physicians may read specialized studies.

Yes, usually: The gallbladder contracts in response to certain stimuli, most physiologic is the presence of food (fat) in the stomach/small intestine.  However ultrasound, looking for stones, is best done when the gallbladder is full, of bile, so that the ultrasound waves can penetrate into the gallbladder.

For some conditions, it is much more sensitive, i.e. better detection of small and subtle abnormalities and changes. There is almost never a good reason to decline MRI if your doctor advises it.  The main problem for some people is discomfort being inside small spaces, especially if claustrophobic

Physical Therapy: uses non-ionizing radiation.  Xray and CT are ionizing radiation, which you should seek to reduce exposure to whenever possible. However, ultrasound, TENS and laser use sound, electricity and light energy which are generally regarded as safe in these therapeutic amounts.
