Yes and no: Irritation in the throat still could happen even if you do not experience heart burn there is a big different between having reflux and experiencing heart burn you need to see your doctor to rule out any ulceration in the mouth or any breaking of the mucosa good luck

Throat burning: There are only a few things that cause the throat to burn.  First is reflux (stomach contents going backwards up your esophagus) and the second is post-nasal drip.  Post nasal drainage can sometimes be quite irritating, but it usually doesn't burn.  If there is infection, though, it could burn.  What burns more is acid reflux.  When you lay down, it's easier for reflux to come up  should get eval.

Throat pain: There are many reasons for throat pain.  Infection, reflux, post nasal drip from allergy are common causes. Please see your doctor for an examination to help determine cause and guide treatment.

i have a sort of tension at the back of my head, right side that goes down to the bottom right of my throat. sometimes i feel the tension up to the back of my head when i swallow. its not a throat pain it is in the head. sleep apnea?

Post nasal drip: It seems you have post nasal drip and other symptoms that can be related to a cold or nasal allergies. You do not mention how long you have had this condition. If it comes and goes, you need to tell your doctor and perhaps see an allergist. If it is mor erecent, use a saline nasal spray to alleviate your nasal symptoms, it will improve your post nasal drip.

i accidentally swallowed some afrin (oxymetazoline) while spraying it in my nose (some went down the back of my throat). but it is now really burning my throat.

Swallowed Afrin (oxymetazoline): If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use. Keep out of reach of children.

If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

: Chiropractic manipulation should not affect your throat. Let your chiropr. know and get checked by your doc. It might be a seperate issue.

: It appears that you're fighting off a viral upper respiratory tract infection. 4 episodes a year is an excessive amount of these infections. Is your home or work environment too dry? Perhaps you'd have better resistance by taking adequate doses of vitamin C daily,washing your hands often and drinking plenty of fluids daily.  An ENT specialist could evaluate and advise you further.

Not typical: These symptoms are not characteristic of gerd and one wonders if you have a pharyngitis which is a throat infection caused by either a virus or the stretococcal bacterium. If your sore throat doesn't improve with warm salt water gargles and/or lozenges, have your physician examine you and order a rapid throat culture to check for a strep infection which would be treated with appropriate antibiotic
