Spot fat loss does: not occur naturally. By losing weight in general  some may be abdominal fat.  But, we don't get to choose what area of body fat is lost from. Eat healthy &amp; be physically active. Calories burned must &gt; those consumed. Tighten ab's: crunches, reverse crunches, exercise ball crunches, pelvic thrusts, lying leg raises, side bridge &amp; “bicycling” exercise on back. Do regular aerobic exercise.

Hernia?: Maybe a hernia? I would have that looked at by your doctor.  If it's not that, it may be a cyst or something benign like that.

does a bulging disc  cause pain the the  upper left  stomach ?

Maybe: Patients with thoracic lateral discs complain of pain that wraps around their back and can go to the abdomen region.  Usually when it comes from a thoracic disc it is a sharp shooting type pain.  However if you have only left upper abdominal pain this may not have anything to do with a disc as several other things can cause this. Please see your pmd.

why do malnourished people have bulging stomachs if they don't get enough food?

Several things can: Cause this.  One, particularly in children, they suffer from something known as Kwashiorkor - which is a severe form of protein-calorie deficiency.  It can lead to fluid in the belly - known as ascites - and enlarged livers, both which can make bellies more prominent.  Two, parasites can infest the gastrointestinal tract causing bloated abdomens.

LUQ pain: Pain in this area may be from the stomach, intestine, colon, muscular cause. Have yourself examined to narrow down the cause.

: Despite your claim to the contrary, you are eating more than needed to lose weight. You may consult a doctor to assess for a metabolic disorder, however, that is a long shot. You may try joining a support group.

: Erosion is just another term for irritation or breaking down of the surface layer. The term is not specific to a cause. It is a descriptor like a color. Discuss the findings with the doc who ordered the testing to place it in context of your personal history and exam. At that point you can discuss potential causes and treatment.

Obesity: Obesity may have a genetic link but there's also a learned component too in that your parents need to teach you about healthy eating & regular physical activity. Of course, you should also check in w/your family doc to be sure there's nothing medically going on that could explain your difficulty losing weight. After that, it's up to you change your lifestyle for the better. Ask for nutritionist.

I : I can not make a diagnosis. Sometimes after surgery, the abdominal muscles may be weak in the area that the surgeon cut open.  Because of the hole or weakness, you can see a bulge if internal organs or fat protrude trhough it.  You would be most apt to see a bulge if you are bearing down (like coughing hard or lifting something heavy). This is called an incisional hernia. You need to contact your surgeon and notify him about your bulge.  
   You need to get emergency care if you are not able to gently push the bulge back through the hole and if the area becomes painful, you develop a fever or you start vomiting.   The danger is that if a  piece of one of your organs (like your intestine) protrudes out of a hernia and gets stuck there, it could get off from it's blood supply and the tissue could die. That would be very serious. Take care and let your surgeon know.
