Hi, what does it mean erosion in a stomach? what's the cause? does it cause bulging on lining of stomach wall? than you?

Erosion is just another term for irritation or breaking down of the surface layer. The term is not specific to a cause. It is a descriptor like a color. Discuss the findings with the doc who ordered the testing to place it in context of your personal history and exam. At that point you can discuss potential causes and treatment.

Erosion of the stomach lining means shallow tiny ulcers or inflammation of the gastric mucosa (gastritis) with some small ulcerated spots. Most of the time, H. pylori infection plays a role. High gastric acid is usually present. However, a severe stomach infection in acute gastritis or gastroenteritis can cause the same thing. Erosion does not mean bulging of the stomach lining (mucosa).

Erosion is usually used to indicate superficial ulceration of skin or mucus membrane. Erosions in the stomach may be due to medications, excessive acid and H pylori infection.
