23 month old girl only babbles in a conversational way to us. great eye contact, smiles and laugh in response to our smiles/laughs. follows only some instructions like clap hands but wont wave bye bye or bring things to us when asked. why wont talk?

Hand pain: hand pain can be many things from arthritis to a nerve compression syndrome like carpal tunnel.  First I would seE your primary doctor who may order blood tests to check for arthritis syndrome. Otherwise a referral to a hand surgeon may be needed to evaluate for carpal tunnel syndrome or other nerve compression syndromes.

Sounds like: Unbalanced activity of the autonomic nervous system.  The controls of this nervous system are in the lower part of the brain and are highly sensitive to deficiency of vitamin b, particularly vitamin b1. Commonest cause is poor diet, particularly the sweet stuff.

i feel like fluid is trapped under my finger. to the right side of my nail. a mri/x ray showed nothing. it feels like it needs lanced? can i do this at home? hurts to touch..pressure.. getting frustrated finding care? been to hand specialist even?

: Do not lance it then you will have a new problem. If an examination of a hand surgeon and MRI do not reveal any lesion on your finger then your problem could be neuropathic. You should be evaluated by a neurologist. Good luck.

Crib safety: Any bumper is unsafe.  You want as little as possible in your child's crib to reduce suffocation hazards. Pillows should also be avoided.

i took my 5 month old to the dr. today. one hand is noticeably swollen. he believes it is from my infant sucking on his hand. is that possible?

Normal in newborns: Newborns will have purle hands and feet and around the mouth can be a little purple. Truly purple lips and mouth need to be evaluated.
Acrocyanosis is the technical name ofr the purple hands and feet and it improves with time.

Possible, but...: There are many things that mimic "blood blisters" that would appear on a baby's hand. First thing that comes to mind is a developing hemangioma. These are collections of blood vessels under the skin that enlarge over the first months of life. Also, babies can have sucking blisters where they essentially give themselves hickies from sucking on their hands. Ask pediatrician to take a look.
