why do i have nightmares when i sleep on my back. everytime i sleep on my back it happens sometimes i know i'm asleep and can't wake up. ?

Ever have a lucid: dream?   It&#x27;s when you are awake enough within a dream to realize that you are dreaming, yet don&#x27;t wake up.   This is very fear-inducing because at the same time you&#x27;ve decerebrated; that is, your brains ability to move your body is blocked (in the dreaming state so you won&#x27;t act out your dream and hurt yourself).   Sleeping on your back is more vulnerable and may keep you in a lighter sleep state

Pain: Perhaps your brain is telling you something. Nightmares can be a reaction to painful stimuli while asleep as the brain's way of telling you to wake up. Sleeping solely on your back is not good for it and may be leading to back pain. Your back does better by sleeping on the side with the natural curvature in place.

Dunno: I thought maybe low oxygen levels (as in sleep apnea) induced by sleeping on back, but several experiments say no, also no general association of nightmare and back sleeping.  Side sleeping is supposed to be more comforting...or perhaps you just remember more in one position?

Side effects of both Citalopram  and Sertraline can be Insomnia and abnormal dreams.
Nightmares also can be due to recent stressor or past unresolved conflicts.
Discuss with Psychiatrist:
•	Diagnosis of Anxiety, Depression, insomnia
•	Side effects of Citalopram  and Sertraline
•	Decrease dose
•	Therapy for stresses

for almost 4 years back i didn't slept for more than 3 days in row. nd after these days i get a sleep of 6 hours for only one day  and in next 15 to 20 days i hardly slept 3 to 5 hours a day..so after these nightmares i have headache on the back side?

Sleep study:  Have you talked with your doctor about a possible sleep medicine consult with sleep study?  Have you had the reason for the nightmares checked out ?  Many past traumatic events?

how do i know if i have low blood sugar during sleep? sometimes i wake up sweating quiet a bit. i fall back asleep fine. i also get occasional nightmares or talk in my sleep?

: You will need to check blood sugar when you wake up from these spells. If family history of diabetes in negative unlikely you have it. Next step would be proper oral GTT I would think if Family history positive.

Sleep for baby: Not unusual for an 8 month old to not sleep through the night.  Be patient and let the baby mature.

Use strategies including talking with a trusted person, develop self calming skills, and eliminate unnecessary stresses. Review your internal dialogue as what we tell ourselves affects our stress/dreams. Develop a positive internal dialogue. Rewrite nightmares with positive ending-take charge.
