Sleep for baby: Not unusual for an 8 month old to not sleep through the night. Be patient and let the baby mature.

Feeds: Why would 8 mnths be feeding every 2 hrs?????? There is something wrong in this scenerio. At 8 mnths, baby feeds three meals --- gerber cereal for breakfast, meal ( fruits, veggies and some meat and pasta--- gerber or home prepared) for lunch and for dinner. Milk intake should be twice a day not more than 12-16 oz a day. And juice or snack once a day. This pattern would help baby sleep better

Small feedings: Generally a baby this age is taking larger or increased volume feedings. Also the baby is at an age that solids should be part of his/her diet. Discuss diet and assess the baby's growth with the doctor. Some babies have reflux which makes feeding difficult. Also some babies with an underlying illness take small feedings. A general check up would be recommended. It is recommended that babies sleep

Sleep training: If new it may be related to teething. By 8 mths babies should not need night feedings if they are getting adequate feedings of solids (baby food) and formula/ breast milk during the day. Otherwise you may have a "trained night awakener" and need to help baby learn to sleep. See MayoClinic: www.mayoclinic.org/healthy.../baby-sleep/art-20045014 or www.webmd.com/parenting/baby/sleep for ideas.

Back to sleep: The preferred sleep position in newborns, to minimize the possibility if SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), is on the back or side, but not on the belly. Your child is 8 months old, and is unlikely to have any risk factors that increase the possibility of SIDS...
