Pain: Perhaps your brain is telling you something. Nightmares can be a reaction to painful stimuli while asleep as the brain's way of telling you to wake up. Sleeping solely on your back is not good for it and may be leading to back pain. Your back does better by sleeping on the side with the natural curvature in place.
