Pulsation: The vein most likely is touching the radial artery and moves as the artery pulsates. If this pulsation is much more noticeable than the pulsation of the left radial artery, I would check the blood pressure in both arms to see if there is a significant difference and to see if there is abnormally high bp in the right arm. A vascular surgeon could also check for an aneurysm of the right radial arter

i have bulging veins in my hands. does that mean that i have a heart problem?

No: Prominent hand veins is normal . If one holds their hands below the level of their heart, the veins will fill. If one raises their hands above the level of their heart, the veins will flatten. Overwhelmingly, prominent veins on the back of one's hands is normal.

Accepted Answer

No: Enlarged jugular viens can mean several things. But usually it means an increase in the pressure to the right side of heart. Such as right sided heart failure, biventricular failure, pulmonary hypertension. An obstruction like a tumor can also cause this . If this is a new finding then you should go see your doctor to work this up. The fast heart rate my be more reactive than causual.

when i lay down on my pillow at night, i can hear and feel my pulse on my head. like a vein is pulsuating.my bp is normal and so is heart rate?

Superficial Artery: The superficial temporal artery is a prominent artery just in front of the ear. In certain positions like 'laying down with your head on the pillow", the artery is slightly compressed by the weight of your head against the hard bone of the skull.  This allows transmission of sound with each and every pulse of blood that is forced through the compressed artery. If BP/HR are normal, this is normal.

21 weeks preg. very healthy preg. so far other than heart palp. issues. just noticed a large bulging vein upper left leg, concerning?

Maybe normal: Bulging veins are very common in pregnancy. Pressure from the uterus on the pelvic veins leads to bulging of veins in the thighs and legs. The hormones also affect the vessels size. If there is pain and swelling though then you should be seen by a physician. Good luck.

hi, my left jugular vein pops out periodically, when im sitting or standing. it feels soft and disappears when i breathe inor pull skin back. pulse and heart rate normal. im female, healthy and 60?

: If you lay down you will see it more and that is normal. There is nothing to concern, you probably did not pay attention before.

sometimes my heart pumps heavier than usual, daily. strong pulse 56 bpm. feels as if adrenaline is running through my veins. any ideas?

it feels like a vein or bubble is pulsing with my heart in the back of my head where my neck ends and head starts, although i cant feel it with my fingers. its been happening a lot. what could this be?

: If the pulsation is in synchrony with your pulse, it must be the occipital artery that's causing the symptom. It could be from variations in your blood pressure or from tension in those neck muscles.  Make sure that you don't have sustained high blood pressure by having it checked. If you don't have hypertension, I doubt you have a serious issue. See your MD as needed though.

Otitis w effusion: You may have otitis media w effusion (also called serous otitis) where normal ear drainage &amp; pressure-equalizing systems are blocked. Tho antihistamines or decongestants may relieve some congestion, they are not proven cures. Generally, this clears on its own in 10-12 weeks. See your clinician or ear-nose-throat specialist if worsens, doesn't get better, or you have concerns. Hope that helps.

when. i lay on my left side i can feel my actual heart beating not the pulse and when im moving around it beats heavy im healthy im also skinny 170 pounds and 20 years old i had a ekg which the doctor said was normal what could it be ?

: When lying on your left side it's not at all unusual to feel your heart beating as it lies near the left rib cage. When up &amp; around it's unusual to feel it beating. Do you have a rapid pulse? High blood pressure? Heart murmur? Overactive thyroid? Anxiety? Take drugs? Ask your MD to do more testing for peace of mind.
